Concept and Design

Ren is a symbolic reference to the centrality of human beings in interior design. Armchair, sofa and a complete collection of furniture accessories inspired by the Chinese ideogram “ren”, which means “person”.  The longer stroke sticks out slightly and is supported by the shorter stroke: a symbol, pure and simple, that transforms into an original design element characterising the profile of every object. When designing the elements in this series, Neri & Hu sought to maximise their versatility and adaptability to different spaces, giving people the chance to create welcoming homes with the utmost freedom. In fact, they can be used in the entrance hall, living room, bedroom, bathroom and study, but are also perfect for non-domestic spaces such as meeting rooms or waiting areas. All of the objects are made of wood, brass and saddle-leather: fine materials that are showcased thanks to the simplicity of the design.

The Ren table mirror by Poltrona Frau, designed by Neri&Hu, is a compact yet highly expressive accessory, conceived to accompany everyday gestures with a discreet and refined presence. The round mirror, mounted on a supporting structure with a brushed steel hook and brass finish, is enhanced by a brass frame externally upholstered in leather or hide and by a veneered wood back, creating an object in which function, tactility and precision of detail coexist naturally. It is an ideal solution for those who want a tabletop mirror that is not only useful, but also capable of enhancing the surface on which it is placed.

The Ren table mirror is particularly suited to people who want to create a small personal area dedicated to self-care, even when they do not have an entire room devoted to this purpose. On a dressing table, console, chest of drawers or carefully organised shelf, it can become a focal point for morning and evening rituals, helping make preparation more intimate, orderly and enjoyable. It is a particularly convincing choice for those who value the quality of small everyday gestures and want even accessories to play a coherent role within the interior design.

In the bedroom, the Ren table mirror is well suited to people looking for an elegant accessory to complete a dressing table or writing desk without introducing an overly bulky element. Its compact proportions make it easy to position alongside other objects, while its refined materials allow it to contribute to the overall character of the setting.

This mirror is also particularly suitable for people who want to enrich consoles, shelves and other surfaces with a useful yet restrained decorative object. In a living room, study or carefully designed entrance, it can act as a sophisticated detail, capable of reflecting light, adding depth and introducing a more intimate note into the composition. In these settings, the Ren table mirror is perceived not simply as a functional accessory, but as part of a broader visual balance made up of books, small objects, noble materials and carefully considered surfaces.

From a stylistic perspective, the Ren table mirror is ideal for people who appreciate minimalist interiors enriched by high-quality materials. The combination of leather, brass, brushed steel and Canaletto walnut or natural ash creates a warm, sophisticated and never excessive image. It fits particularly well into interiors featuring neutral, sand, leather, tobacco or warm grey palettes, as well as projects where the contrast between matt surfaces and metallic details forms part of the overall aesthetic language.

The Ren table mirror can be a particularly successful choice for people living in compact spaces who want to bring quality even to the smallest objects. In a city apartment, guest bedroom or second home, an accessory like this makes it possible to create a carefully considered beauty corner or preparation area without the need for complex furniture. Its light presence also allows it to be used as a movable element within the home, making it easier to relocate wherever it is most needed than a fixed wall mirror.

In a bathroom or private vanity area, this mirror is aimed at people looking for something warmer and more personal than a purely technical mirror. Its round shape and fine materials help make the act of getting ready more intimate and enjoyable, transforming an everyday function into a small moment of self-care. It can likewise be particularly interesting in a private study or elegant bookcase setting, where it adds an unexpected and refined touch.

In hospitality and professional environments, the Ren table mirror can naturally find a place in suites, high-end hotel rooms, private lounges, executive offices or representative areas. Here it meets the needs of people who want to communicate care, hospitality and attention to detail even through relatively small accessories. In such environments, it is often precisely the smallest objects that communicate the true level of design and perceived quality.

The Ren table mirror is therefore a solution designed for those who want an accessory capable of making a simple gesture such as looking at oneself, getting ready or arranging a surface more beautiful and personal. It is particularly suited to people looking for a compact, elegant and richly tactile mirror capable of combining everyday function with a decorative presence in an exceptionally natural way.
